During the visit the secretary of the organization Mr Ibrahim Fofanah informed the First Lady that the organization was formed out of the desire to address the problems of the Met chem community in Goderich. He said many of the women were engaged in the activity to break stone. He added that such an activity was very hard and strain for women to do. For this reason the organization has written a project with the focus to create vocational training centers where women will be trained to gain skills in hair dressing and tailoring. The program he added will be launched on 22nd May this year and the members have invited Her Excellency Mrs Sia Koroma to officially launch the project. A member of the delegation sister Mary thanked the First Lady for accepting their invitation to visit her. She reiterated that the financial support the organization has received was used to build a community bafa which she disclosed would be utilized to practice sung and conduct adult literacy program.
In response Her Excellency Mrs Sia Nyama Koroma thanked the women for the initiative to create vocational training centers in the bid to remove the women in the community from breaking stone to the new skills of hair dressing and tailoring The First Lady assured the delegation of her support to the projects initiated by the organization. |
