First Lady Reinvents Civic Education
Sia_koromsFirst Lady Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma has rejuvenated the national civic education campaign targeting 2.5M school children across the country. "Basically, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has approved the books meant for the civic education for Classes 1 to 6, which would be printed soon. We are going to start a pilot face of this education campaign across the country," Mrs. Eileen West, Project Coordinator for the 'First Lady Attitudinal Change in School' disclosed.

HER EXCELLENCY (H.E) MRS. SIA NYAMA KOROMA ATTENDS THE 17TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AFRICAN FIRST LADIES AGAINST HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) IN KIGALI, RWANDA.

a1The 17th General Assembly of the Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) meeting was held in in Kigali, Rwanda from 14th-18th July 2016 alongside the 27th African Union (AU) Summit in Kigali. The theme is "Advancing Sustainable Partnerships to end pediatric AIDS and improve Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights" Plan International Sierra Leone and Save the Children were invited by the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency (H.E) Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma to join her, as delegates and technical support, to attend the 17th General Assembly.

First Lady champions ‘Stop early marriage’ campaign
First_Lady_ChampionsAs efforts are being put in place to start a strong and effective campaign, on Wednesday the office of the first Lady Sia Nyama Koroma championed the launching of the African Union Campaign to end early Child Marriage with the theme 'end child marriage for sustainable development in Sierra Leone. The launching held at Kingtom Bank Complex, was attended by stakeholders and dignitaries in different spheres of life, including UN Agencies, AU representatives, Chinese envoy, Child Rights Advocates, Women's organizations and it was officially launched by Vice President Victor Bockarie Foh. Girls under the age of 18 years are being deprived of their right to education and a better life due to early marriage and because of the alarming percentage in Sierra Leone stakeholders have committed themselves to champion the campaign and to contribute to the development of young girls in the country.
